Ezzelini’s Dead shares the folklore that was spread to many Italian grandchildren in Guelph and the surrounding area. There is a ton of history between San Zenone, the city of Guelph, and the Italian community in Guelph.
The project was created as a means to embrace our heritage and to share a story that may have long been buried as a result of diaspora. We took location sounds from San Zenone, Monte Grappa, Bassano del Grappa, San Vito, as well as interviews in Veneto dialect to create the backbone of our EP.
Ezzelino III da Romano was a medieval tyrant whose cruelty was extended to eating his enemies and peasants. Extrapolating this myth and applying it to today, how do WE consume each other? Perhaps it is through the stories we share. We must consume ourselves in order to transform.
